Bluebird at Bonneville Vettriano painting for sale

| Jack Vettriano blog | July 19, 2007

Bluebird at Bonneville, estimated at £400,000-600,000, is perhaps the best-known of Vettriano’s Bluebird group and it is also the most valuable of the seven original paintings for sale. It sets the scene of sunlight refracted from the white sands of the Utah salt flats in Salt Lake City, Utah, where Sir Malcolm achieved his ninth – and last – land speed record in a Bluebird CN7 powered by both Napier and Rolls Royce engines on September 3, 1935

The Guardian rubbishes Jack Vettriano's work

| Jack Vettriano blog, Limited edition prints, Wall Art Gallery | July 18, 2007

“His work is like Hopper without the emotion, and sleazy to boot, but Jack Vettriano is as popular as ever.” Which artist could the Guardian be talking about ? Jack Vettriano ? The article declares his work should carry a health warning. “Careful: this painting may make you think you are looking at art.” Just to round off the whole thing , it says” we should not make the mistake of classing him as a major – or even decent – artist.” Good job poor Jack’s got a thick skin – he must have by now

Bluebird at Bonneville painting by Jack Vettriano for sale

| Jack Vettriano blog, Wall Art Gallery | July 18, 2007

Seven Jack Vettriano paintings go to auction next month .Touted as the most important collection of Vettrianos seen at auction, the series was commissioned by the restaurateur Sir Terence Conran for the Bluebird, on the King’s Road in Chelsea in 1997. Vettriano said yesterday: “I was thrilled when Sir Terence Conran approached me with the project. The brief was pretty clear: ‘I know you have to paint cars, but try to make them sexy’. “I did a lot of research on the subject and spent six weeks in my studio producing the works – that’s slow for me. I then waited for the dreaded call. He loved them.” Jack Vettriano paintings

Vettriano’s paintings will be sold on Aug. 29 in Perthshire, Sotheby’s said. The restaurant is being refurbished for its 10th anniversary.
